My wife and I travelled to Cape Town and returned from Sydney. Because we are elderly we treated ourselves to Business Class. We were very badly disillusioned with the accommodation with the eccentric seating arrangement having to climb over the outside passenger’s feet to access the lavatory. She wrote two letters to the chairman and received neither the courtesy of an acknowledgment or a reply. Extremely disappointing for probably our last long haul flight. I cannot tell you how incensed we were to travel this way after paying a heavy price.
It’s outrageous you didn’t get a response – but in fairness – although the Club World Ying Yang layout is different – if you travelled on an airline who’s seats all faced the same way, and you were in a window seat – you’d still have feet to climb over to get to the aisle.
Not surprised John, there is no such thing as customer services anymore because the snowflakes have over taken and and cant cope with any negative vibes.
So you found this page to complain, but not to plan?
Had you done your planning, you would have known what the seating plan involved …
As for the chairman responding to complaint letters … are you serious? Do you think that’s what he’s there for?
Actually yes, the chairman is there to listen to the market and champion those customer feedback. They have people they assign to respond on their behalf. That’s what customer service is all about. If you treat a person well they will bring more business and do the marketing for you. Referrals and return customers are still the biggest market.
A big airline like that should be able to hire a dozen or so customer service/ public relations people to respond to such – it will pay for itself from the positive feedback.
Unfortunately u will always climb over people in most of the business class arrangements. Even on planes where u all face same directions – u will still have to climb over someone.
If you don’t want to climb then the only way is first class or Emirates business class (subject to availability). I do hope they change this as business class is paying premium so you can have these additional little comforts.
